How long is a typical speech therapy session?
Sessions typically last anywhere from 30 – 60 minutes based on the goals your child is trying to reach. The exact capacity and duration of therapy for your child will be discussed during the consultation and initial assessment in order to best meet the needs of you and your child.
At what age should I seek out help for my child?
Research shows that the earlier intervention takes place, the higher probability your child will develop successful outcomes. For some children, speech therapy is appropriate and for others it may not be. Please consult with a speech and language pathologist in order to determine appropriateness for therapy.
What happens during the initial consultation?
An initial consultation and assessment includes an in-depth 60 minute meeting with you and your child, where we discuss and review your concerns, your child’s goals and interests, previous reports, and medical history. The speech therapist will ask you a variety of questions to better understand your child’s condition. An individualized treatment plan is then carefully developed with recommendations and goals for your child.
